WHITE MICE - NLASSTPHLEGMEICE

01 blassstphlegmeice
02 dieabesstitty
03 caged mearachells
04 catasstasteatrophy
05 foetal castro
06 wrawblow
07 violence of the lamb
08 porn again
09 hole (sweet) hole
10 mousestassh ride
11 turban sprawl
12 rattarddead
13 sewercide

"Musically, there is no good reason why this terrifying trio should be held in any less regard than Air Conditioning, Sightings, Gang Wizard, or even Lightning Bolt. Their cacophonous combination of screeching oscillations, sickening, bowel spilling bass, and bludgeoning double kick drumming has never sounded better than it does on BLasssTPhlEgMEICE. For forty minutes straight the White Mice set your balls on fire and watch as your writhe in pain while they laugh and perform unnecessary surgery on the rest of your body: switching from grinding torture-porn doom grooves to mid-tempo black metal blender noise. The production of this record is a definite improvement over ASSPhiXXXEATATESHUN, a subtle shift I took notice of just before it violently grabbed me by the throat. Their sound is fuller, more pronounced, and every sound shines with an alarming clarity: the blinding flash of a knife's blade before it fatally plunges into your fat belly."

Yeah, I know they've got a new one out on Blossoming Noise soon (Excreamantraintraveinanus),
and I'll post that as soon as I find it.

SWIMMER ONE - THE REGIONAL VARIATIONS

(Biophonic Records, 2007)

01 drowning nightmare 1
02 largs hum
03 national theatre
04 but my heart is broken
05 the fakester genocide
06 the balance company
07 drowning nightmare 2
08 whatever you do, don't go in the basement
09 regional
10 the dark ages
12 a petrol pump in the cradle of christianity

"There’s a lot of idiotic soulless electro pop around, so it’s a good job that Swimmer One are here to redress the balance. This stunning debut effort more than meets expectations raised by the Edinburgh and Glasgow-based duo’s promising set of single releases, and might just be the find of the year for the as-yet uninitiated. Kicking off with the mighty force of ‘Drowning Nightmare 1’’s soaring melody and anthemic fan favourite ‘Largs Hum’, The Regional Variations combines catchy choruses with minimal beats, atmospheric soundscapes and some incredibly original subject matter. Like a stripped-down Scottish Pet Shop Boys without the funny hats or a more melancholy synth-based Pulp, Swimmer One’s brilliance should be shouted from the rooftops."

Tullycraft - Beat, Surf, Fun

Tullycraft is an American twee pop band formed by the members of two defunct indie bands, Crayon and Wimp Factor 14. Sean Tollefson & Jeff Fell (both of Crayon), and Gary Miklusek (Wimp Factor 14), created the band in 1995. They are considered one of the forefathers of the American twee pop movement alongside bands like Black Tambourine, Tiger Trap, Lois Maffeo, Beat Happening, and The Softies.
In 2001 Jeff, Chris, and Sean started playing together again and soon began working on new songs. Harold Hollingsworth (Sno•Boy), who had toured with the band between the first two albums (in 1997), was re-recruited to play 2nd guitar on the new material. The result was the 3rd proper full length Tullycraft album: Beat, Surf, Fun released on Magic Marker Records. Tullycraft emerged from the extended absence with a batch of new songs, including the indie pop classic, "Twee."

Sigur Ros - Sæglópur

Sæglópur (Icelandic for "lost at sea") is a song by Sigur Rós, released in 2006 as a single from the 2005 album Takk.... While the vocals towards the end of the song are in Icelandic, this song is almost entirely sung in Hopelandic, a language created by the band itself to sound similar to Icelandic. This song was featured in the British documentary I'm a Child Anorexic and in an episode of Top Gear.
